LitBuy Insurance and Parcel Claims: What to Check and Save
Understand what to check before choosing protection and how to organise a clear request if a parcel is damaged or missing.
Before choosing protection, read the terms attached to your route and item types. If a problem occurs, report it promptly, confirm the relevant deadline and keep the carrier and LitBuy case records together. Coverage and payment require a case-specific decision.
Read the cover for the chosen route
LitBuy’s general help article distinguishes delay, damage and loss, and lists exclusions. Check the applicable protection terms before paying. Do not assume every item or event is covered simply because an insurance option is offered.
Match the problem to the appropriate process
Use this as a starting point for your question. It does not state that any scenario is covered by a particular policy.
| Problem | First evidence to gather | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Delay or missing scans | Route estimate and dated tracking history | Is an investigation appropriate, and does any delay protection apply? |
| Possible lost parcel | Dispatch record, tracking and carrier investigation reference | When can loss be established, and who opens the formal claim? |
| Damage on arrival | Packing, label, damage photos and delivery record | Which damage conditions or item exclusions apply? |
| Missing contents | Parcel item list and evidence of what arrived | Was the item packed in this parcel, and what evidence is needed? |
| Wrong seller option still in warehouse | Purchase option and warehouse QC images | Is a seller return or exchange available instead? |
Confirm deadlines before you need them
The general article mentions seven days after delivery and 45 days after shipment, but does not clearly map every deadline to every claim type. Ask support which deadline applies to your parcel and contact them promptly. Do not wait until one of those dates to first report a problem.
Build one organised case
Our suggested case file has four parts: parcel identification, a dated timeline, evidence and the resolution requested. Explain what happened in a few factual sentences. Keep original files as well as any annotated copies.
- Parcel and order numbers, route and tracking history.
- Purchase records and the protection terms you selected.
- Packaging, label and item photos; unpacking footage if available.
- Carrier report or delivery record, where relevant.
Track the decision and payment separately
Ask support to explain the outcome, any deductions and how an approved amount will be paid. Keep the case number until the payment is received. Parcel compensation and a seller return are different processes, so check which one applies instead of treating them as interchangeable.
Questions to answer before paying for protection
Save the actual terms shown for the route and date of purchase. Check the covered events, excluded item types, limit, deductible if any, evidence requirements and reporting deadline. Ask whether the protection concerns the goods, delivery charge or both. Do not assume the word “insurance” answers these questions.
When submitting a case, use a factual request: “Parcel [number], event [date], issue [description]. Attached are [records]. Please confirm the applicable process and deadline, any additional evidence required, and how the decision and payment will be communicated.”
